The rapid ferry to the Biesbosch

The Biesboschis a terrific area for walking or cycling. Rent a bike and get on the rapid ferry to Werkendam. Go on shore and you can cycle straight into the Biesbosch. Before you start out, do some research: the Biesbosch is a reasonably complex river delta area with tidal water, beavers, ospreys, creeks and willow woods. Before you go, think about how you want to experience the Biesbosch. If you go by bike, you are naturally forced to stay along the boundaries and will experience the nature in less detail. However, you will see magnificent wetlands, large grazers, ospreys, spoonbills – in short, a rich flora and fauna through which you can criss-cross on new bike paths. On this route, we highly recommend the rejuvenated Biesbosch museum with terrace and dining facilities.

If you are seriously interested then a walk and/or a boat trip is the better alternative. No matter which mode of transport you choose, the Biesbosch is awesome; the fact that this extraordinary nature exists in our crowded country and can be freely enjoyed and experienced makes it a ‘must’.
